Sweetened Beverage Excise Approved by Parliament, Tariff Still Under Discussion

Commission XI of the House of Representatives (DPR) has approved the government’s plan to impose excise on Sweetened Beverages in Packaging (MBDK) as part of the 2026 Draft State Budget (RAPBN 2026). This policy aims to increase state revenue while also controlling consumption that has negative health impacts. However, the excise tariff rate still requires further discussion with the DPR.
