DGT Reactivates 24,000 Dormant Taxpayers to Expand Tax Base

JAKARTA. Indonesia's Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) has announced that it has reactivated 24,672 taxpayers previously classified as non-effective, or dormant taxpayers.

According to Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto, as quoted by Kontan.co.id, the reactivation, carried out through 12 June 2026, aims to broaden the country's tax base.

In addition to reactivating dormant taxpayers, the DGT also recorded 1.84 million newly registered taxpayers.

As a result, additional tax revenue generated from reactivated dormant taxpayers and new taxpayers reached IDR 912 billion and IDR 1.96 trillion, respectively.

Optimizing Data and Technology

Despite the increase in the number of new taxpayers, the DGT stated that it will continue expanding the tax base.

To achieve this, the tax authority plans to optimize the use of data and information technology. Enhanced technology utilization is expected to improve the profiling and identification of taxpayers.

Meanwhile, as of the end of May 2026, tax revenue had reached IDR 834.4 trillion, equivalent to 35.4% of the 2026 State Budget (APBN) target.

The figure represents a 22.1% year-on-year increase compared with tax revenue collected during the same period in 2025.
