West Java Government Grants Waiver on Vehicle Tax Arrears and Penalties

JAKARTA – The West Java Provincial Government, led by Governor Dedi Mulyadi, has officially waived motor vehicle tax arrears and penalties. This program is valid from March 20 to June 6, 2025, and applies to the 2024 tax year and prior. As a result, taxpayers are only required to pay the vehicle tax for the 2025 tax year.

The program aims to improve public compliance with motor vehicle tax obligations and is also expected to ease the financial burden on West Java residents.

“For taxpayers who still have outstanding dues from 2024 and earlier, they are no longer required to pay them. However, the current year's vehicle tax must still be settled,” said Dedi, as quoted from the official website of the West Java Regional Revenue Agency.

Provisions on Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fees

Meanwhile, individuals who own vehicles still registered under the previous owner’s name may proceed with the ownership transfer process. In this regard, the West Java Provincial Government has also waived the Motor Vehicle Ownership Transfer Fee (BBNKB).

However, non-tax state revenue (PNBP) fees related to the issuance of license plates (TNKB), registration certificates (STNK), ownership documents (BPKB), and transfer letters (surat mutasi) will still apply.

Digitalization of Services

To make it easier for residents to fulfill their tax obligations, the West Java government is promoting the use of digital platforms.

Several digital services will be available, including E-Samsat, the Simbara application (accessible via the Jabar Sapawarga app), and the national digital Samsat service (SIGNAL). (ASP/KEN)
