JAKARTA. Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani officially inaugurated Bimo Wijayanto as the new Director General of Taxes and Djaka Budhi Utama as the new Director General of Customs and Excise on Friday (May 23).

The inauguration of both officials was conducted along with 20 other echelon I officials within the Ministry of Finance.

Profile of Bimo Wijayanto

From 2020 to 2024, Bimo served as Secretary to the Deputy for Coordination of Economic Cooperation and Investment at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs.

However, the graduate of Gadjah Mada University and the University of Queensland also previously held roles at the Directorate General of Taxes, including as Head of the Section for Economic Impact of Macroeconomic Policy within the Sub-Directorate of Policy Impact, and as a Senior Analyst at the Center for Tax Analysis.

Five Key Messages for the Director General of Taxes and the Director General of Customs and Excise

On this occasion, the Minister of Finance instructed Bimo and Djaka to ensure that the state revenue targets set can be achieved.

In detail, there are five things mandated by the Minister of Finance to both of them. First, she requested that state revenue be increased. Second, the tax ratio is also expected to rise.

Third, the Minister of Finance also hopes that services to taxpayers will improve. Fourth, tax certainty must continue to increase. Fifth, transparency and tax governance must continue to be improved.

State Revenue Target

“State revenue is also expected by the public to realize social justice for all Indonesian people. The vulnerable must be supported, and those who are capable are obliged to fulfill their tax responsibilities,” said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani on Friday (May 23).

In the 2025 State Budget (APBN), the government has set a tax revenue target of IDR 2,490.9 trillion. This includes a tax revenue target of IDR 2,189.3 trillion and a customs and excise revenue target of IDR 301.6 trillion.

Sri Mulyani reminded that achieving this target will not be easy, as several challenges lie ahead, such as global economic turmoil, geopolitical conditions, and complex economic and social situations. (ASP/KEN)
