Tax Refunds Reach IDR 111.04 Trillion as of February 2025

The Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) recorded a significant surge in tax refunds (restitutions), reaching IDR 111.04 trillion by the end of February 2025. This figure marks a sharp increase compared to the same period last year, which amounted to only IDR 57.5 trillion.
“As of February 28, 2025, the total tax refund realization amounts to IDR 111.04 trillion,” said the Director of Extension, Services, and Public Relations of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) Dwi Astuti, in a statement quoted from Kontan.co.id on Friday (March 14).

Based on the type of tax, most refunds came from Domestic Value Added Tax (VAT-DN), with a total amount of IDR 86.31 trillion. In addition, a significant portion of refunds also came from the Corporate Income Tax (ITA 25/29), which amounted to IDR 22.96 trillion.
The majority of refunds came from normal sources, totaling IDR 70.92 trillion. Meanwhile, refunds processed through the accelerated mechanism reached IDR 35.16 trillion, and refunds related to legal remedies were recorded at IDR 4.97 trillion.
Previously, the DGT recorded total tax refunds throughout 2024 at IDR 265.67 trillion, an increase of 18.8% compared to 2023. This growth in tax refunds included Corporate Income Tax refunds, which reached IDR 54.4 trillion, growing 58% from the previous year, and VAT refunds, which amounted to IDR 206.6 trillion with a 12.1% increase.
