Government to Integrate Coretax with Other Administrative Systems for Better Supervision
JAKARTA. The government will integrate the Coretax tax administration system with other administrative systems to enhance tax compliance monitoring.
This was revealed by the Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut Binsar Panjaitan. According to him, if Coretax is integrated with other government administrative systems, it will be easier to identify non-compliant taxpayers.
As reported by Bisnis.com, one example of a government administrative system that could be integrated is the system for issuing driver’s licenses (SIM), passport creation, or the Mineral and Coal Information System (Simbara).
Thus, when people apply for a driver’s license or passport, or when companies conduct transactions using Simbara, their tax data will be cross-checked.
“If you go to process your passport, you can't do it because you haven't paid taxes. You renew your driver’s license, but you can't do it because you haven't paid taxes. So, everyone will understand,” said Luhut.
Meanwhile, DEN Member Muhammad Chatib Basri emphasized the importance of Coretax. He stated that improving tax compliance requires breakthroughs in the form of tax system digitalization.
According to him, as quoted by Tempo.co, while it may be easy to increase revenue by simply raising tax rates, such an increase would provoke public anger.
With Coretax integrated with Govtech and Simbara, efforts to enhance compliance will be much more efficient because the cross-checking mechanism will operate automatically. (ASP/KEN)
