In Anticipation of Eid al-Fitr 2026, Government Releases Various Fiscal Stimulus Measures to Boost Purchasing Power
JAKARTA. The government has introduced several fiscal stimulus measures to boost public purchasing power ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2026.
The stimulus package includes transportation discounts, food assistance, and the disbursement of religious holiday allowances (THR).
This was conveyed by Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa during the presentation of APBN Kita – February 2026 edition.
“To maintain people’s purchasing power and consumption during the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026 period, the Government has prepared a comprehensive stimulus package,” said Purbaya on Monday (23/2).
Transportation Discounts Worth IDR 0.92 Trillion
The government has allocated around IDR 0.92 trillion to support public mobility during the homecoming (mudik) period.
For rail transportation, a 30% ticket discount will apply from March 14–29, 2026, and is expected to benefit around 1.2 million passengers.
For sea transportation, a 30% reduction in the base fare (approximately 27.7% of the total ticket price) will apply from March 11 to April 5, 2026, benefiting an estimated 445 thousand passengers.
In the ferry crossing sector, a 100% exemption on port service charges, equivalent to around 21.9% of the integrated fare, will be implemented from March 12–31, 2026. This policy is projected to benefit 403 thousand passengers and around 945 thousand vehicles, equivalent to 2.4 million people.
Meanwhile, in air transportation, tickets purchased during the period February 10–March 29, 2026 will receive a 17–18% price reduction, with an estimated 3.3 million passengers expected to benefit.
Food Assistance for 35.04 Million Families
In addition to transportation incentives, the government will distribute food assistance consisting of 10 kilograms of rice and 2 liters of cooking oil to 35.04 million beneficiary families in income deciles 1–4.
The assistance will be distributed once for two months simultaneously, covering February and March 2026. The total allocated budget reaches IDR 14.09 trillion.
THR Disbursed at the Start of Ramadan
The government has also confirmed the disbursement of THR (holiday allowances) for civil servants, members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), members of the National Police (Polri), and pension recipients.
The total number of recipients is estimated at around 10.5 million people, with a budget allocation of approximately IDR 55 trillion.
The disbursement is planned for the first week of Ramadan 2026, with the expectation that it will strengthen purchasing power ahead of the peak consumption period during Eid al-Fitr.
Through this combination of policies, the government has placed purchasing power stability and smooth public mobility as key fiscal priorities at the beginning of the year.
By maintaining public purchasing power, the government hopes to support economic growth while ensuring broader distribution of benefits amid increased seasonal economic activity. (ASP/KEN)
