Unable to File Your Tax Return Before Creating an Authorization Code? Here’s How to Create and Validate It
Every taxpayer who intends to file their annual Tax Return (SPT) through the Coretax system must have an Authorization Code or Digital Certificate issued by the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT).
Its function is to serve as a verification tool to validate each taxpayer’s SPT filing in the Coretax era. In short, without this code, SPT filing cannot be completed.
Therefore, taxpayers who do not yet have it are advised to create their authorization code immediately. Previously, the requirement to have an authorization code or digital certificate was regulated under Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 81 of 2024.

This article will review the step-by-step mechanism for creating an authorization code as outlined by the DGT in its publications. The process is very easy and can be done through the Coretax portal by following these steps.
Steps to Create an Authorization Code
There are several steps required to generate an authorization code, including the following:
1. Log in to your DGT Coretax account
Open the Coretax page, then log in, continue by selecting the “My Portal” menu, and click “Authorization Code/Digital Certificate Request.”
2. Choose the certificate provider
After clicking “Authorization Code or Digital Certificate Request,” scroll down. In the Certificate Details section, select “Authorization Code/Digital Certificate from the DGT.”
3. Enter the Signer ID
Next, enter the signer ID or create a passphrase for the authorization code. A passphrase may use a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
4. Tick the Agreement Box
Then tick the taxpayer declaration or agreement box, and click “Save.”
5. Authorization Code Successfully Created
If successful, a notification will appear: “Digital Certificate Successfully Created!” Download the available receipt and issuance letter.
Authorization Code Validation
Before use, taxpayers must also ensure whether the issued authorization code is valid. Below are the steps required to validate the authorization code:
- Access My Portal, then go to My Profile.
- Select the External Identification Number menu, then open the Digital Certificate tab.
- Ensure the status shows VALID. If it is still INVALID, click Check Status.
- If successful, click the Generate button.
- The DGT Authorization Code Issuance Document will appear in the My Documents menu.
Data Protection
For your information, the DGT Authorization Code feature functions as a multi-layer verification system. This ensures taxpayer data security, as only legitimate taxpayers can perform important transactions.
With this system, taxpayers’ personal information remains protected from unauthorized access. Especially in an era of widespread digital crime, data protection is no longer sufficient by relying solely on strong passwords.
We certainly hope that Coretax not only improves the efficiency of tax reporting but also provides stronger security guarantees for all taxpayers in Indonesia. (NZR/ASP/HFZ)
