Building Competence, MUC Consulting Holds FGD on Global Minimum Tax
JAKARTA. As part of its commitment to strengthening tax consultants' competence in facing global tax challenges, MUC Consulting held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Global Minimum Tax (GMT) based on Regulation PMK No. 136 of 2024, on Tuesday, (22/10). The event, held at MUC Consulting's headquarters, featured Johannes Glorinus Saragih, International Tax Analyst at the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT), and Nendi Bahtiar, Head of Pillar Two Tax Advisory Services at MUC Consulting. Around 60 tax consultants from various divisions within MUC Consulting attended the session.
During the discussion, Johannes, who also serves as a Tax Auditor in the Strategic Policy Division of the Directorate of International Taxation, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the implementation of the Global Minimum Tax and highlighted the importance of preparedness among corporations and tax consultants in navigating the evolving global tax landscape. He emphasized that the adoption of this regulation goes beyond mere compliance; it also involves developing tax strategies that can significantly impact the structure of multinational businesses.
The session proceeded interactively, with participants raising questions about the challenges of implementing GMT, particularly regarding complex calculation and reporting requirements faced by businesses. The FGD also focused on identifying entities that fall within the scope of GMT, as well as understanding the mechanisms such as the Income Inclusion Rule (IIR), Undertaxed Payments Rule (UTPR), and Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax (DMTT).
Further discussions covered the calculation and allocation of top-up taxes, as well as the deadlines and reporting requirements that taxpayers must meet to ensure compliance with international standards.
The forum aimed to deepen technical understanding of the GMT regulation while also translating it into practical, accessible guidance for taxpayers.
Through the FGD, MUC Consulting reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a strategic partner of the DGT in educating taxpayers and promoting a culture of early compliance. Strengthening internal competencies is a crucial step toward enabling tax consultants to offer adaptive, relevant solutions in today’s dynamic global tax environment.
