Two Tax Systems in Effect: Coretax and the Old Tax Application Operate Simultaneously

JAKARTA. The Government and the House of Representatives (DPR) agreed to activate two tax systems simultaneously, Coretax and the old tax system.
According to Kontan.co.id, the use of this dual tax system is due to various issues encountered with the Coretax system.
The agreement was reached after the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) met with Commission XI of the DPR on Monday (10/2).
During the meeting, the DGT also expressed its commitment to continuously improve the Coretax system, including its security aspects.
Waiver of Administrative Sanctions
Chairman of Commission XI, Misbhakun, stated that due to the challenges in using the Coretax system in 2025, no administrative sanctions will be imposed.
Previously, the government launched the Coretax system on January 1, 2025.
To support the implementation of Coretax, the government also issued the Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 131 of 2024.
However, many taxpayers have reported disruptions in the Coretax system during its implementation.
Commitment to Improvement
Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani acknowledged that she is aware of taxpayers' difficulties in using the Coretax system.
She stated that Coretax is a complex tax administration system, especially given the large volume of transactions processed through it.
Nevertheless, Sri Mulyani assured that her ministry will continue to make improvements, noting that Coretax is expected to be a solution to boost tax revenue and close tax loopholes. (ASP/KEN)
